Burnham began his career on YouTube in 2006, with his videos topping 600 million views as of June 2022.[9]

In December 2006, Burnham wanted to show his older brother Pete, who had moved away to study in New York City, two songs he had written.[10] A friend suggested that he film himself performing the songs in his bedroom and post it on YouTube, a relatively new site at the time.[10] His song “My Whole Family…” quickly became popular when the link to his YouTube video was shared on Break.com, which soon led to it being shared on other sites.[2]

While performing at the Montreal Just for Laughs Festival in 2008[8], Burnham met director and producer Judd Apatow.[23] In September of that year, he negotiated with Universal Pictures to write and create the music for an Apatow-produced comedy film, which he described as “anti-High School Musical,” though he insisted the script is not a parody of the Disney musicals, but an attempt to emulate the high school he attended. Hoping to star in the film, Burnham told Wiredthat he named the main character after himself in a “not-so-subtle hint.”[25] In an interview with Boston’s Weekly Digin March 2009, he said he spent eight hours a day writing the music for the film and spent his evenings writing the screenplay.[26] Burnham’s high school friend Luke Liacos co-wrote the screenplay. Burnham led Directed Jerrod Carmichael’s comedy special 8 (2017) for HBO and Chris Rock’s comedy special Tamborine (2018) for Netflix. In an interview with Vulture, he discussed his directorial prospects directing a comedy special: “I approached [the special] which was to take stock of the feelings I get when I see that person performing and I’m like, ‘How can I recreate that as best as possible for the audience? Robert Pickering Burnham was born on March 21.Born August 19, 1990 in Hamilton, Massachusetts to hospice nurse Patricia and construction company owner Scott Burnham.[2] His mother’s work was covered in a 2014 episode of This American Lifefor which she was interviewed.[3][4] He has an older sister named Samm and an older brother named Pete, both of whom work for the family construction company.[5]

His third album and second comedy special, what., was released on his YouTube channel and Netflix in 2013. Burnham placed first overall when voting in the 2011 Comedy Central Stand-up Showdown. His third stand-up comedy special, Make Happy, was released exclusively on Netflix on June 3, 2016.

2013

In addition to his career as a comedian, Burnham co-created and starred in the MTV television series Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous and published his first book of poetry, Egghead: Or, You Can’t Survive on Ideas Alone. in 2013. His first feature film as a writer and director, Eighth Grade was released in July 2018 to critical acclaim and numerous awards including the Writers Guild of America Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directing – First Feature Film.

In 2010, Burnham wrote, produced and starred alongside Dan Lagana, Luke Liacos and Dave Becky in Zach Stone Gets Famous. The series was not picked up for a second season and officially ended on June 26, 2013.

Burnham has been in a relationship with filmmaker Lorene Scafaria since around 2013. They live together in Los Angeles.

2010

Burnham has performed his music across the US, including Cobb’s Comedy Club, YouTube Live in San Francisco and Caroline’s Comedy Club in New York City, as well as internationally in London and Montreal. In August 2010, Burnham was nominated for Best Comedy Show at the Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2010 after his first performance (by Bo Burnham: Words, Words, Words). Instead, he received the Panel Prize, a £5,000 prize for “the show or act that best captured the comedy spirit of Fringe 2010”.

On May 21, 2010, Burnham recorded his first hour-long stand-up special entitled Words Words Words for Comedy Central from the House of Blues in Boston as part of the network’s new “House of Comedy” stand-up specials series ; It aired on Comedy Central on October 16, 2010. It was on the 18th.Released October 2010. Burnham’s second special entitled what. was released on December 17, 2013 on both Netflix and YouTube. Burnham’s latest special, Make Happy, was produced by Netflix and released on June 3, 2016.

He was nominated for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2010 Main Edinburgh Comedy Award and won both the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Jury Prize and the Malcolm Hardee Award “Act Most Likely to Make a Million Qu”.

2009

Burnham’s first experience of controversy surrounding his music came on March 3, 2009, when fifteen Westminster College students (members of the campus’ Gay-Straight Alliance, Black Students Association, International Club and Cultural Diversity Organization) opposed his Concert there protested that evening. Of the controversy, he says, “It’s so ironic because gay bashers were the ones who labeled me in high school … I try to write satire that’s well-intentioned that makes it comedy.” Despite the college’s admission for booking Burnham despite not being familiar with his show’s material, student dean John Comerford praised the opportunities for discourse the controversy brought to the school.

2008

Burnham recorded a performance in London for Comedy Central’s The World Stands Up in January 2008 (aired 30 June 2008) and signed a four record deal with Comedy Central Records. Comedy Central Records released Burnham’s debut EP, the six-song Bo fo Sho, on June 17, 2008 as an online-only release album. Burnham’s first full album, the self-titled Bo Burnham, was released on March 10, 2009. 100067*

While performing at Montreal’s Just for Laughs Festival in 2008, Burnham met director and producer Judd Apatow. In September of that year, Burnham negotiated with Universal Pictures to write and create the music for a comedy film produced by Apatow, which he describes as an “anti-high school musical”, although Burnham insists the script was not a parody of the Disney musicals, but an attempt to emulate the high school he attended. Hoping to star in the film he was writing, Burnham told Wired magazine that he called the star “Bo” in a “not-so-subtle hint that [he] wants to be in it.” In a March 2009 interview with Boston’s Weekly Dig, Burnham detailed his work on the film. When he’s not performing, Burnham spends eight hours a day writing the music and his nights writing the screenplay, of which he has completed the first draft. The screenplay was co-written with Burnham by his high school friend Luke Liacos. In an October 2010 interview with MTV, Burnham admitted he knew nothing about the future of the project and that, as far as he knew, it was all up in the air. In May 2009, viral marketing for Funny People began to appear, with Burnham starring in an NBC sitcom called Yo Teach! In the promo, Burnham stars alongside Jason Schwartzman as the latter’s English student.

2006

In 2006, Burnham videotaped two songs and posted them on YouTube to share with his family. They quickly became popular through YouTube, Break.com and other sites.

Put the video in 0.25x speed and go to the last frame where Bo pose is the best in the whole video. Even keeping the 0.3 inch shoe advantage, Bo doesn’t look more than 2 inches taller than Conan. @Hyper and Editor Rob: I just can’t see him as 6’6″ or anywhere near 6’6″. But yes, I see a very strong case for the 6’5.25-.5 range. Maybe he has a range of 196.5 to 196.7 but just can’t see it as a weak 6’6. I have someone like Anthony Joshua, Ralf Moeller etc and I definitely get a bigger impact with guys like Spencer Wilding Bruce Spence or Even Paul Pierce who can look like a weak 6’6 with Carmelo Anthony. But my definition of a faint 6’6 is someone who’s close to 6’6 all day (6’5.5-.75 range) and then measures 6’6 in the first hour of the morning. That would bring his overall height to maybe 197 flat or higher by mid-afternoon and get him out of bed at 199, which is hard for him to see. At this point we are talking about a man measuring essentially 6ft 6 by the second hour, while I consider the height of someone Christian to be a strong 6ft 5. That’s about the size I have Bo in a day now, would be maybe within a mm or two of Christian. I think Bo can make a taller impression due to his lanky build, but at the same time I see the case for him being taller than he claims, especially with his sometimes bad posture. Not to mention, this is one guy who has admitted wishing he was shorter than he is.

My worst low has always been 7.7-0.1 inches, nothing changed a bit. If you think he’s dropped a fraction below 197cm, then Pete Holmes isn’t a single mm over 194cm or even worst at 6’4 1/4 (193.7) because Bo has a very strong 1″ on Pete seems to have.

Breaking over 197cm is not impossible for Bo indicates a low. I still see him heavily underlisted. 6’5 3/4 was no problem. Greg Davies is nowhere near more than 2 inches on Bo. Tired of mentioning 5’10 1/2 Josh Hamilton standing next to Bo, the 19cm wasn’t a lie or pressure. Josh is probably close to 5’10 1/4 a low, I see him as a strong 5’10 and Bo definitely has a higher chance of being 6’5 3/4.

At the same time, I think it’s a refresher. it’s kind of a good indicator that he’s over 6′ and he doesn’t need to brag about it too much. He usually wears light footwear, unlike someone like Wladimir Klitschko.

I think his big head might be similar in size to Rory McCann. You have guys like Ralf Möller and Wladimir Klitschko who have broad proportions. Ralf is bigger. Wladimir is not too different from Ralf, but Ralf is taller. Rory has a strong build.

On someone like Bo, he seems lanky, slim, and thin for someone his height. The size of his head does not make him look proportionately large.

I would also say that Bo also has a long neck, which contributes to his extremely tall stature.

@Dream: 1/4” may be fair, but almost all preliminary designs I’ve seen are up to 1/2” larger as an afternoon measurement. So if we use noon as the standard MCW, it can be 6’4 3/8. I know he has a 6’5 list in the NBA this year. Since they were measured in the morning, if he measured 6’5.25 or so in the morning, he probably would have listed 6’6 as before. I’ve noticed that most players like Jaylen Brown got a 6’6 list from a 6’5.25 pre-draft, and the same goes for Derozan. Both probs got 6’5.5 this year which was a small stretch

@184guy: The other problem is what standard do we use? It’s supposedly defined by Rob, but it varies from celebrity to celebrity. Rob mentioned that it’s supposedly a noontime, which for most is only about 1/8 inch above afternoon height (normal low) and about 5/8 inch below out-of-bed height. Still, some of the athletes are probably an hour out of bed on their highs. Then a guy like Daniel Cudmore is listed at 6’6.5 but was listed at 6’7″ even after Rob met him. The 6’6.5 came out of Cudmore’s mouth though. Now Cudmore, that looks like to me Picked an afternoon size as he looks pretty much listed, but Rob also mentioned that he met him earlier in the day and that Cudmore wouldn’t be at his bottom then, but for the same reason Cudmore can dip to anything less than 7′ himself “It’s speculation, of course, but I’m throwing out everything that’s possible. With a younger Greg Davies, Bo looked no shorter than Anthony Joshua.With Nicholas Braun, Bo looked taller than the current James Cromwell, and a very old James Cromwell looked taller than Tim Robbins and Michael Duncan Clarke. The screenplay, written by Max Borenstein (Godzilla), is based on Jeff Pearlman’s 2014 book Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s. The series will chronicle the life of the Los Angeles Lakers in a time before anyone knew the names Shaq, Kobe or LeBron.
