Career of Vince Vaughn

Vince, who was born on March 28, 1970, grew up in a pleasant atmosphere with wealthy parents.

However, he longed for more and wanted to try different things. Vince was not interested in school activities and studies as a child and preferred performing and theater.

In the history of race relations and law enforcement in the United States, April 2017 will surely mark the month that the Te turned. First came Kendall Jenner’s Woking, a Pepsi ad that started off as a kind of soda spiritual but ended up showing us that we had the answers to this little problem all along. Now comes the news of a groundbreaking documentary focusing on the relationship between African American communities and the police force. “You have to figure out what the real fight is,” Audience Network boss Chris Long explained this week when announcing the project, “and that’s part of making the story authentic.” The other part is that it’s from Vince Vaughn is made.

I know! LAST BUT NOT LEAST. If you’re one of those people who feels the topic is being held back by the lack of hilariously over-rehearsed white actors trying to give it the full 360, the news can’t come soon enough. According to Long, Vince’s Wild West Picture Show Productions has been working on the project for a year, with the only sadness being that the swingers star won’t be directing it, though he appears to be very active as a producer. As Long puts it, “I said to him, ‘Listen, [if I were you] I’d embed. Hoop Dreams was a five-year embed.” Why do I feel like Hoop Dreams is his only other documentary point of reference with This Sort of Race Stuff?

After describing what we call “churn Lost in Showbiz judges that he certainly has the flexibility in his schedule for a five-year embed — but above him. “The concept is really humanizing the people on both sides,” Vince explained at an event hosted by the Hollywood Radio & Television Society this week. Luckily, he seems to have connections with both camps, albeit in that suspiciously vague way that actors do. “I’ve had friends who grew up in that environment, I’ve also had friends who are cops and there’s a lot of fear on both sides.” Hmm. I suspect we are moving towards a purposeful corrective that counts ALL lives.

In any case, with this type of Rolodex, Vince is uniquely positioned to bring this painful tale of our time… I’m sorry , I honestly do not have the will to finish the sentence. Maybe later.

In the meantime, it feels right to suggest that the documentary could serve as an unofficial companion piece to Vince’s other current project: a recently announced buddy cop film about police brutality, in which he co-stars – Stars with Mr. Mel Gibson. Prepare yourself for the adventure! It was a time when movies about inevitably violent cops who didn’t follow the rules were common, no-nonsense fare, but the concept has kind of gone out of fashion lately. Who’s to say why.

Nonetheless, Dragd Across Concrete sees dear old Mel being flung out of the unpredictable role of younger cop that he once made his own. Instead, he’ll play Vaughn’s newcomer the old-timers, with the plot revolving around two officers whose brutal tactics are filmed by a civilian, with the video becoming a huge event. I wonder if the victim will be black or if Hollywood will stick to its rich tradition of staying out of 90% of the big debates of a given age. Anyway, it will be great to see Mel back on patrol in an exploration of law enforcement that critics will cite as his best since performing on the streets of Malibu, when he called the police officer “sugar tits” and declared, that the Jews were responsible for all the wars in the world.

As for the actors, it is undoubtedly a fascinating partnership. Vince is known to be a libertarian; He was supportive of both Ron and Rand Paul and kept his relationship with Ron Paul as a serious friendship. He believes there aren’t nearly enough guns in the US, previously stating: “Because of burglars, we don’t have the right to carry guns; We have the right to bear arms to oppose the supreme power of a corrupt and abusive government.’ There should be guns in all schools, Vince also explained, arguing – is that the right word? – that “banning guns is like banning forks to prevent people from getting fat”. You can see what might have drawn him to Mel; After all, there really isn’t a more nuanced study of the possibilities of armed law enforcement in an era of small governments than Mad Max.

Mel, for his part, seems to form quite a creative connection with Vince. At a time when other directors seem less keen, he gave him a role in Hacksaw Rge, and the two sat side by side at the Golden Globes, where they both stared rigidly through Meryl Streep’s speech on Trump’s bullying has the guts to revitalize the buddy cop genre in the Black Lives Matter era, then it certainly is this double act and we have to look forward to the announcement that filming has begun.

There was plenty of glitz, tears and mind-boggling awkwardness (whoops, with the best mix of images from “Moonlight”!) during Sunday’s Oscars.

From an Ivanka Trump dig to a JCC shout-out, we rounded up the best Jewish moments of the night.

1) Host Jimmy Kimmel ripped Present Trump for his claim that Meryl Streep was “overrated” by listing all of her many, many “lackluster” accomplishments. He ended his post by asking Streep, “Nice dress by the way – is that an Ivanka?”

2) Mel Gibson’s film Hacksaw Rge might be in line for a slew of nominations, but that didn’t stop Kimmel from referring to the director’s story with racist, anti-Semitic comments. When Hacksaw Rge star Vince Vaughn took the stage, Kimmel said of the actor, “Our next host is one of the stars of Hacksaw Rge, which is nominated for Best Picture. It’s the story of the conscientious objector who decides to work with Mel Gibson anyway.”

3) Seth Rogen and Michael J. Fox got out of a DeLorean together and then sang “The Schuyler Sisters” from Hamilton. Enough sat.

Oh and P.S. Lin-Manuel Miranda loved it.

4) Natalie Portman might not have been able to attend the ceremony due to her baby’s due date, but she would appear in a segment dealing with internet trolls. Portman, along with a slew of other A-listers, read out the worst tweets they’ve received.

5) When Justin Hurwitz, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul accepted the Best Original Song award for La La Land’s “City of Stars,” Pasek had a very special message for his mother. “She let me drop out of the JCC soccer team to be in a school musical,” he says. “So this is dedicated to all the ks who sing and write and all the mothers who let them!”

6) Sara Bareilles sang a stunning version of Joni Mitchell’s “Both Ses Now” during the “In Memoriam” section. Carrie Fisher, Gene Wilder and Anton Yelchin were among the honorees.

7) In the craziest mix-up of the night, ‘La La Land’ producer Jordan Horowitz picked up the mic after realizing his film had been wrongly awarded Best Picture.

“This is not a joke,” says Horowitz. “Moonlight won Best Picture.”

Vince Vaughn was a trending topic over the weekend — but not for anything related to his career, which wasn’t as hot as it was in the early 2000s, when he was hitting comedy like The Wedding Crashers and dating Jennifer Aniston.

No, Vaughn was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of drunk driving and officers resisting, delaying or obstructing her. The 48-year-old actor and an unidentified male passenger were stopped at a previously disclosed DUI checkpoint in Hermosa Beach, TMZ reported. Police said both men were uncooperative and initially refused to get out of the vehicle. After being taken into custody and charged, both men posted bail and were released.

For many, the news probably raised the question: what has Vince Vaughn been up to lately?

It turns out he’s worked steadily as a producer and actor, including an appearance in Mel Gibson’s Oscar-nominated Hacksaw Rge in 2016. Last year, the Chicago-based actor also garnered positive reviews by writing what the channeled The Los Angeles Times calls out “worker rage” to the role of a fired auto worker-turned-drug dealer in the prison exploitation film “Brawl in Cell Block 99.”

Next? The father of two – who married real estate agent Kyla Weber in 2010 – is teaming up again with Gibson to star in a new film. His law enforcement theme turns out to be timely given Vaughn’s arrest over the weekend and Gibson’s own history of an antagonistic encounter with police during his own arrest for DUI in 2006.

Dragged Across Concrete, due for release sometime this year, features the men as two police officers. One is Stola, an old Guards officer Rgeman (Gibson); the other is his fugitive “younger” partner, Anthony (Vaughn).

According to a storyline by Deadline, officers are suspended when video of their violent tactics leaks to the media. “With little money and no options, the embittered cops descend into the criminal underworld and find more than they wanted in the shadows,” reads the plot description.

Do you sense a theme here in Vaughn’s recent work?

Like “Brawl in Cell Block 99,” “Dragged Across Concrete” was written and directed by S. Craig Zahler, an auteur filmmaker best known for his work in the exploitation genre and for creating films that, intentionally or not, meant to appeal to conservative, Trump-supporting moviegoers.

“Dragged Across Concrete sounds like conservative porn,” one Twitter user wrote in February 2017 when news about the film was first announced, Page Six reported.

In fact, Gibson and Vaughn are both outspoken about their conservative politics, and the film will likely see a degree of controversy when it opens, simply for that reason.

“When actors get involved in political debates or engage in public controversy, it changes our perception,” branding and communications expert Scott Pinsker told Page Six. “It’s a much bigger challenge for actors who are right of center because Hollywood and the media are taking a left turn and all the criticism is amplified.”

But the controversy could be heightened given the issue of police brutality and the possibility that the film offers a benevolent look at the officers’ excessive use of force.

Please tell me this movie is NOT about glorifying police brutality!

In addition, there is the personal history of the actors with law enforcement. In addition to the Saturday morning spur, Vaughn was involved in a 2001 bar fight in Wilmington, North Carolina, in which fellow actor Steve Buscemi was stabbed to death, the New York Daily reported. Vaughn was arrested for assault, but the charges were later dropped.

Gibson’s history may be more problematic.

During his 2006 arrest for drunk driving, Gibson launched an anti-Semitic tirade, proclaiming, “The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world!” Then there was Gibson’s spousal battery conviction misdemeanor after leaked tapes in 2010 he shouted violent, misogynistic and racist comments at his then-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva.

The RiotFest.org site noted, “With #MeToo, #TimesUp, and #BlackLivesMatter still very much at the forefront of modern cultural discourse, the combination of Gibson’s checkered history, ‘Dragged’ provocative themes, and Zahler’s renunciation of ‘ Message’ storytelling this filmmaker certainly has a challenging promotional cycle ahead of him.”

Zahler defended Gibson’s casting to RiotFest.org. “The truth is I chose him because he was fantastic for the role,” says Zahler. “If people have decided to judge him and take that point of view, then they can take that point. If people are open to seeing everything that happened during that time as a mistake and are open to seeing him work and taking that work at face value, then you can do that.”
