Hagr has appeared in various animated and non-animated parodies of Harry Potter. He appeared in US comedy sketch Saturday Night Live, portrayed by Horatio Sanz, in the same episode in which Lindsay Lohan played Hermione; Bobby Moynihan later portrayed Hagr in 2012 when Daniel Radcliffe hosted the show. On Alistair McGowan’s show Big Impression, Hagr appeared in a sketch entitled “Louis Potter and the Philosopher’s Scone” in which he was portrayed by Robbie Coltrane himself.[35] Hagr is also parodied in Harry Potter and the Secret Chamber Pot of Azerbaijan, a story published by Comic Relief in 2003, and he was played by Ronnie Corbett. In the Potter Puppet Palsparodies by Neil Cicierega, Hagr appeared in the episode “Ron’s Disease”[38] and later in the episode “Neville’s Birthday”.[39] Hagr also appears in the parody stage production Harry Potter and the Obnoxious Voiceinteracting with Draco Malfoy and a Dementor.[40] In an episode of the second series of Tracey Ullman’s State of the Union, Tracey Ullman parodies Rowling as bossy and keen to copyright her creations, believing a tramp impersonates Hagr.

Hagr performs in the theme park attraction Harry Potter and the Journey of Forbden in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, Japan and Hollywood. A new coaster, Hagr’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, will open June 13, 2019 at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure theme park, replacing the Dragon Challenge double coaster. It will be about Hagr and his love for magical creatures.

IGN listed Hagr as their thirteenth top character Harry Potter, saying that Hagr has become an audience surrogate and that the brief scene in Harry Potter and the Goblet of FireFilm in which he recalls memorable moments with Harry, Hermione and Ron gave them a “cherished memory”.[32] IGN’s Joe Utichi also listed Hagr as his seventh favorite character Harry Potter.[33]
